Why getting a mammogram is important
Compared with other ethnic/racial groups in the United States, American Indian/Alaskan Native women have the lowest incidence of breast cancer but the lowest breast cancer survival rate so finding a lump early is very important. The earlier breast cancer is found, the better the outcome. A mammogram can save your life, it is the best form of early detection. A mammogram can detect a lump up to two years before it can be felt, it can find a lump the size of the smallest bead.
